Know what you’re aiming for.
Ok, here’s the thing. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t have to know exactly what the future will look like. You don’t have to know exactly how you’ll get there.
BUT, when you want change in yourself or in your circumstances, you have to have some kind of intent. A north star.
Something not based upon who you “should” be, what you “should” do or what you’re supposed to want to achieve.
It’s something that resonates deep within you and is aligned with who you are. Aligned with your values and your strengths.
A north star is both a destination and an intention to embody what matters most to you. It represents:
WHO you aspire to BE,
WHERE you intend to GO, and
WHY any of this really matters to you.
Know what you’re practicing.
So you have a north star. Great! BUT, how do you get from here to there?
As one of my teacher’s used to say, you’re always practicing something. The key is to know what you are already practicing.
Where are you now? Who are you now? What do you need to practice to be more aligned with your north star?
We often live in a sort of autopilot. Repeating beliefs, thoughts and patterns of behaving without being fully aware of it.
Sometime these ways of being no longer serve us well. They served a purpose at one point and we can be thankful for that!
But now they may need to be updated in order to serve us BETTER.
Embody your north star
So you have a north star. You know what you’re practicing. Now, it’s time to shift your patterns and your practice to be aligned with your north star.
Say goodbye to being overly perfectionistic and hard on yourself. We’re going to take a different road.
You’re going to get to know the role of the body in holding patterns in place and offering important information that you need to move forward.
You begin to practice NEW ways of being and doing. You develop new skills, new capacities, new ways of seeing that are aligned with what really matters to you. You learn to handle the stresses and obstacles that come your way with a greater sense of peace and ease.
At first, it might be hard but the more you practice, the EASIER it gets. And because it’s aligned with what really matters to you, you aren’t just doing something because you “should” be or because someone else told you to. You’re doing something that you are deeply committed to! And over time, this becomes your new autopilot.

Here’s the best news: You don’t have to be “perfect” and you don’t have to wait for tomorrow to enjoy where you are at today!
Imagine you want to play piano. You’ve never played before, so you sit down and start pressing keys. You decide to take some lessons and your skills grow. You pick a difficult piece of music to learn and you practice regularly. You enjoy it but also there’s times that it’s frustrating or hard. Sometimes you miss a couple days but then you practice again. When you practice, some days you make more mistakes than others but you keep on playing. As time passes, playing feels easier and easier until one day you play the song with no difficulty. You enjoy playing. You enjoy this accomplishment and all the other songs you can now play as a result. And you begin to think about picking a new song to learn. And the journey goes on.
From the first moment you sit down to play, you are playing piano. You are aligning with your north star. Even when you aren’t a “perfect" master of the piano.
When you make mistakes, it’s not failure. It’s just part of the journey. And the journey really is the destination.
When you are present for the journey, you can enjoy and appreciate what you have, who you are and where you are right now. Even while knowing that the journey is far from over.
This is one of the secrets to ENJOYING the life you have while building the life you WANT.

Wondering about the embodied change practice sessions?
In the course of coaching, you will be invited to do homework and practice new embodied skills. Sometimes this includes practicing visualisations, breath work, meditation, mindfulness, movement, or yoga. As part of all coaching packages, you may receive pre-recorded exercises to use on your own. But let’s be honest, it’s not always easy to stay motivated and create space to practice regularly alone. With embody change practice sessions, you have at least one live guided session in between each coaching appointment. These sessions will be tailored to you and your needs and goals and will support you in embodying your north star with greater ease and balance.

Who am I?
Hi, my name is Skylar. I’m a Somatic coach and a Yoga Therapist.
Transformation that enables you to truly THRIVE in life and work is what I’m passionate about.
If you are just looking for surface conversations, to-do lists and a glorified accountability partner, I’m not who you are looking for.
Rather than a necessary evil, I believe that somatic coaching can be enjoyable and is a valuable investment in yourself that keeps on giving. Clients describe feeling like they are becoming more of who they are.
You’ll know this is true when you develop a deeper understanding of who you are and what you want, when you see yourself start acting in alignment with what matters to you, when you progress towards your goals, when behaviours you’ve tried to change actually begin to shift. When you leave a session feeling heard, inspired, challenged and motivated to keep going and when you develop new relationships with the challenges and obstacles you face.
I have an international background, identify as queer and non-binary (pronouns they/them) and have 20+ yrs of professional organisational and coaching experience. Perhaps most importantly though, is that I teach what I practice myself.
What is Somatic coaching?
Somatic coaching - sometimes called embodiment coaching - works with the body and the mind. It focuses on the role of the body in the way we perceive, behave and learn. It often asks the question: How do I align with what matters most to me even under pressure? It starts with what matters most to you instead of what’s wrong.
In my coaching practice, I
