Embodiment coaching

Discovering your body as a source of wisdom and strength

Increasing ease and agency

There's many things that can leave us feeling disconnected from our body, uncomfortable in our own skin or perhaps stuck in our heads. Often this is a result of complex dynamics around experiences, family and cultural shaping, survival patterns, or health challenges. While we are often unaware of it, our disconnection can fuel and be fuelled by the challenges we face around relating, health and wellness. In our disconnection we lose a deep source of wisdom and information that is useful for thriving in all areas of life including our health, work, and relationships of all kinds.

When we (re)connect with our body, its desires and limits in kind and wise ways, the changes we need or desire often begin to happen naturally. We are able to harness the wisdom of the body in all the areas of life resulting in a greater sense of ease and agency. As a result we,

  • develop greater ease in discomfort

  • greater capacity for pleasure and joy

  • new skills in relationships with ourself and others, and

  • increased wellness and resilience in the face of challenges

FAQ

  • Sessions vary and are always tailored to you, your goals or learning intent and whatever emerges in the moment.

Examples of practices which might be in a session include: conversation, movement, body based mindfulness practices, body focusing, breath work, meditation, visualisation, trance, guided relaxation, and touch.

  • You will always remain at choice about your body and the activities we do in coaching. I work in a client led, trauma-informed, and consent-based manner.

  • I offers embodiment coaching online and in person. In person coaching typically occurs in the Oasis, my private studio in Haarlem North or while walking in the nearby Kennemerduinen (sand dunes).

Clients coming from cities such as Amsterdam or other locations often find it freeing to be in a different location away from their normal daily routine.

  • Embodiment work often touches on areas of trauma in very healing ways. I have studied somatic approaches to trauma and trauma-informed delivery of all the modalities I work with.

I am not a licensed psychologist and will let you know in a consultation if the themes you want to work on are out of my scope of practice or if it is recommended that you have access to a psychologist to process anything that might come up during our sessions.

  • On average I work with clients for 6-8 sessions.

Some clients choose to make embodiment coaching a regular part of their personal development, healing and self-care practice.

  • My hourly rate for private individuals is 85 including BTW. I offer a range of packages and payment plans to meet your needs.

For coaching paid by your company, different rates apply.

  • Unfortunately, insurance does not pay for coaching. Some insurance will pay for mindfulness training which I do offer. Additionally, if you are self-employed, you may be entitled to receive the BTW amount back.

Please contact me to discuss options.

  • I’m happy to discuss this with you. I offer a range of bodywork options as a part of or separate from coaching.

  • People keep telling me that my approach is that of a “healer” or a “shamanic coach”. I tend to avoid these words.

I listen deeply. I respond intuitively. I draw upon wisdom traditions and western science. I view you as multi-dimensional. I believe in your inner resources, strengths and intuitive wisdom. I believe in the inter-connectedness of all the aspects of our lives including our inter-connection with the fabric of the universe.

Clients report experiencing healing, change, growth, purpose and often come back to me years later to tell me about the way our work together impacted their longer-term journey and evolution.

  • Everyone gets to this realisation differently. The fact that you are reading this, might be a sign worth pursuing.

Here’s a few of the many other possible indicators:

A suspicion or inner knowing that connecting to your body more might be useful. The sense of living in your head. Feeling disconnected from your body. Struggling with holding and regulating big feelings. Feeling stress or discomfort in life. Having difficulty changing the same repeating behaviors. Struggling in relationships. Having been in therapy but knowing there’s still a missing piece.

  • In general, I work 9-1800 M-F. Requests outside of these hours can be discussed.
